Badminton achievements at SA Deaf Games 2006 at Bloemfontein

The SA Deaf Games, which was held at Bloemfontein on the 8th and 9th April 2006, that included 12 participants, 3 umpires and 1 referee.  All players, except one, are developments, ages vary as from 17 to 21 years old that have been trained at their schools for the past year and well yearned their achievement at the Games.

After the arrival to the venue at the University Free State’s Badminton hall with four courts in good conditions except no chairs for umpires, the games started immediately due to two short days and the players were put under pressure to complete the matches that fortunately completed late night on 9thApril 2006.

On the first day, the games were played in Round Robins in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. On the second day in the morning the matches continue in Round Robins, Knockouts, and Finals in the afternoon. Thereafter Provincial Teams started until late night.

It was a pleasure to see how they all enjoyed the games and their positive attitude, co-operation even under the pressure.

Our appreciation goes to LOTTO/DISSA/SADSF who made it possible for them to participate at the games and we are looking forward to the next Games.
